Our son was a strong willed child since he was 3 yo, always wanting to do only what he wanted to do, extremely stubborn. When he went to school, high intelligence level did not help, as attitude and behavioral problems were in the way of all the talents he has. As he approached his teen years we had no control over his behavior whatsoever, he totally ignored all our and his teachers' assignments and preferred to stay in his dream world playing computer games, magic cards, causing trouble at school and destroying his step dad's tools and property in general. He failed his 8th grade and when repeating it, was failing it again because he disrupted the class; talked when he wanted to; he would draw in his exercise book instead of doing his class work; play cards during classes; did not hand in his home work; did not do his home work; called the kids names; made fires using paint spray in the school yard; did not give us (parents) his report card on time, only if and when asked for it ? ?I forgot?? did not tell us when secluded from the school.
That is how it was when in November 2003 we sent him to one of the schools on the program. Changes did not happen overnight, on average teens stay on this results based program for 18 months, it took our son 24 months. He is home since 12/1/2005, there is a huge change in attitude, he handles life using all the tools he learned while on the program, he is a pleasure to be around, very mature in many respects, and on 3/1/2006 he brought his first school progress report - here it is:
11th Am Lit/Comp 98;
Geometry 92;
Personal Fitness 97;
Political Science 93;
World History 97;
Photo Print 92
In December 2007 he was accepted to North Georgia College in Dahlonega, GA and we are very proud of him as he will make a career in the military!
We are extremely proud of our son's accomplishments in all areas of his life, he took the second chance we have offered him. 24 months of learning and healing was all worth it, we would do it again to save our son from himself.
